Test G-5: Windshield Washer Inoperative
- Check wiper operation. If wiper operates normally, go to next step. If wiper does not operate normally, diagnose wiper problem according to symptom. See SYMPTOM TEST INDEX table.
- Check input signals from windshield washer switch. See INPUT SIGNAL CHECK FUNCTION under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If input signal test shows a fault, check windshield washer switch circuit. See TEST O-18: WINDSHIELD & REAR WIPER SWITCH CIRCUIT CHECKS . If input signal test is okay, go to next step.
- Disconnect washer motor 2-pin connector. Fill washer tank with water. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage to washer motor connector terminal No. 1 (Black/White wire) and ground washer motor connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). Washer motor should operate and squirt fluid. If problem exists, replace washer motor and retest washer operation. If problem does not exist, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between ground and washer motor connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 2 ohms, repair Black/Red wire between washer motor and front-ECU and retest washer operation. If resistance is 2 ohms or more, repair Black wire between washer motor and ground and retest washer operation.
