Test N-3: Key Reminder Switch Circuit Check
- Disconnect key reminder switch 7-pin connector. See Figure
. Check continuity between key reminder switch connector terminals No. 4 and 6 (component side) with key installed in key cylinder switch and key removed from key cylinder switch. Continuity should exist when key is removed from key cylinder. Continuity should not exist when key is installed in key cylinder. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace key reminder switch and retest system.NOTE: On retest, key reminder switch input signal check should be okay and ignition key tone alarm, forgotten key prevention, keyless entry system (if equipped), ignition key hole illumination light, dome light dimming and anti-theft system functions should work normally.
- Measure resistance between ground and key reminder switch connector terminal No. 4 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to step 4 . If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to next step.
- Check key reminder switch connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Check for open in Black wire between key reminder switch connector and ground. Ground is located behind center of instrument panel. Repair connector or Black wire as necessary and retest system.
- Check key reminder connector and ETACS-ECU 16-pin connector C-82 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Check for open or short in Blue/Red wire between key reminder switch connector terminal No. 6 and ETACS-ECU connector C-82 terminal No. 48. See Figure and Figure . If problem exists, repair connector or Blue/Red wire as necessary and retest system. If problem does not exist, replace ETACS-ECU and retest system.
