Test Procedure
NOTE:
BARO sensor is located in Volume Air Flow (VAF) sensor.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check if DTC P0107 is also set. If DTC P0107 is also set, troubleshoot DTC P0107: BAROMETRIC PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT LOW INPUT first, then recheck for DTC P0106. If DTC P0106 is the only code set, go to next step.
- Check VAF sensor connector for loose, damaged, or corroded terminals. If problem exists, repair or replace connector. Go to step 9. If problem does not exist, go to next step.
- Disconnect VAF sensor connector. See Figure. Check continuity between ground and VAF sensor connector terminal No. 5 (Black wire). If continuity exists, go to step 6. If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
- Check PCM connector D-108 connector for loose, damaged, or corroded terminals. If problem exists, repair or replace connector. Go to step 9. If problem does not exist, go to next step.
- Check for continuity between PCM connector D-108 terminal No. 57 and VAF sensor connector terminal No. 5 (Black wire). If there is continuity, replace PCM and go to step 9. If there is no continuity, repair open circuit in Black wire between PCM connector D-108 terminal No. 57 and VAF sensor connector terminal No. 5. Then go to step 9.
- Turn ignition off. Check PCM connector D-108 for loose, damaged, or corroded terminals. If problem exists, repair or replace connector. Go to step 9. If problem does not exist, go to next step.
- Check VAF sensor and PCM connector D-108 connectors for loose, damaged, or corroded terminals. If problem exists, repair or replace connector(s). Go to step 9. If problem does not exist, go to next step.
- Replace BARO sensor. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Test drive vehicle following OBD-II drive cycle Other Monitor pattern. See OTHER MONITOR under OBD-II DRIVE CYCLES under VERIFYING REPAIRS. Check for DTCs. If DTC P0106 is output, replace PCM. Go to next step. If DTC P0106 is not output, inspection is complete.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Test drive vehicle following OBD-II drive cycle Other Monitor pattern. See OTHER MONITOR under OBD-II DRIVE CYCLES under VERIFYING REPAIRS. Check for DTCs. If DTC P0106 is output, go to step 1 and retry diagnostic procedure. If DTC P0106 is not output, inspection is complete.
