EGR Port Vacuum Check (All Other Models)

  1. Disconnect Green-striped (Yellow-striped on Lancer Evolution VIII) vacuum hose from throttle body EGR vacuum port. Connect hand vacuum pump to throttle body EGR vacuum port.
NOTE: On the Outlander, the vacuum hose may be solid green.
  2. Start and idle engine. Check vacuum. Vacuum should be 15 in. Hg (51 kPa) or more.
  3. Reset vacuum gauge to zero (release vacuum). Using stop watch, check length of time it takes for vacuum gauge to reach 15 in. Hg (51 kPa). Vacuum should reach specification by one second. If it takes more than one second for vacuum to reach specification, check EGR vacuum port for restriction.
