DTC Confirmation Test (Using CONSULT-II)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Maxima and 2002 Infiniti I35. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Before performing test, ensure fuel tank level is 1/4-3/4, ambient temperature is 32-86°F (0-32°C) and EVAP-CPVCSV hoses are installed correctly. Open hood before proceeding.
  1. Turn ignition on. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds. Turn ignition on and select DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II.
  2. Ensure the following conditions are met:
    • COOLAN TEMP/S: 32-158°F (0-70°C).
    • INT/A TEMP SE: 32-86°F (0-30°C).
  3. Select EVP SML LEAK P0442/P1442 of EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT- II. Follow instructions displayed.
    NOTE: If engine speed cannot be maintained within range displayed on CONSULT-II screen, perform BASIC INSPECTION. See ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.
  4. If OK is displayed on CONSULT-II, system is okay at this time. If NG is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  .
