Variable Intake Manifold Solenoid Test

Variable Intake Manifold (VIM) solenoid test checks VIM solenoid for proper operation.

  1. Connect TECH 2 or equivalent scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located at lower left side of instrument panel, behind a small cover. Turn ignition on, and go to next step.
  2. on scan tool, select F3: MISCELLANEOUS TESTS. From application menu, select F6: VARIABLE INTAKE MANIFOLD SOLENOID, and go to next step.
  3. Follow scan tool directions to test VIM solenoid.
  4. If VIM solenoid tests as specified, testing is complete. If VIM solenoid fails test, test VIM solenoid. See VARIABLE INTAKE MANIFOLD SOLENOID in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article.
