DTC Confirmation Test (Using CONSULT-II)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Xterra and 2002 Nissan Frontier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition on. Select DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II.
  2. Ensure COOLAN TEMP/S is less than 104°F (40°C). Allow engine to cool as necessary. Do not attempt to lower coolant temperature with a fan or means other than ambient air.
  3. Start engine and let it idle. When COOLAN TEMP/S value reaches 158°F (70°C), immediately go to next step.
  4. Select EGR SYSTEM P0400 of EGR SYSTEM in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT-II.
  5. Press START. Accelerate vehicle to a speed of 25 MPH once, and then stop vehicle with engine running. If COMPLETED is displayed, go to step  8 . If COMPLETED is not displayed, go to next step.
  6. Using CONSULT-II, check THRTL POS SEN output voltage with throttle closed and note it.
  7. When the following conditions are met, TESTING will be displayed. Maintain conditions until TESTING changes to COMPLETED (it will take 30 seconds or more).
    • ENG SPEED: 2000-2800 RPM.
    • Vehicle speed: 6 MPH or more.
    • B/FUEL SCHDL: 7-10 msec.
    • THRTL POS SEN: (X + 0.23) - (X + 0.74) volts (X = voltage measured at step  6 ).
    NOTE: If TESTING is not displayed after 5 minutes, retry from step  2 .
  8. Press SELF-DIAG RESULTS. If NG is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If OK is displayed, system is okay at this time.
