DTC Confirmation Test (Using CONSULT-II)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Xterra and 2002 Nissan Frontier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition on. Select DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II. Ensure the following conditions are met:
    • COOLAN TEMP/S: 14-140°F (-10-60°C).
    • EGR TEMP SEN: less than 3.7 volts.
  2. Turn ignition off and wait at least 5 seconds. Turn ignition on. Select EGR SYSTEM P1402 of EGR SYSTEM in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT-II.
  3. Press START. Follow instructions displayed on CONSULT-II. Start engine and let it idle until TESTING on CONSULT-II changes to COMPLETED (it will take 60 seconds or more).
    NOTE: If TESTING is not displayed after 5 minutes, turn ignition off and allow engine to cool until COOLAN TEMP/S: indicates 14-140°F (-10-60°C). Retry from step  2 .
  4. Press SELF-DIAG RESULTS. If OK is displayed, system is okay at this time. If NG is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  .
