Fuel Pump Module Replacement

  1. Remove the left rear seat cushion mounting bolts, and lift the left rear seat cushion and tie it to the head restraint.

  2. Cut the floor mat and then remove the service hole cover to gain access to the service hole.
    NOTE: Push the floor mat to find the notches and cut the floor mat along them.
  3. Fuel Pump Connector Disconnection (How to Reduce Fuel Pressure). (Refer to ON-VEHICLE SERVICE ).

  4. Disconnect the fuel pump module connector, the fuel tank differential pressure sensor connector and fuel high-pressure hose.
  5. Remove the mounting nuts and plate, and remove the fuel pump module from the fuel tank.

    CAUTION:
    • When removing the fuel pump module from the fuel tank, be careful not to spill the fuel remaining in the fuel pump module.
    • When withdrawing the fuel pump module from the fuel tank, be careful not to damage the module unit and the float.
  6. Drain the fuel remaining in the fuel pump module while removing the fuel pump module from the service hole.
  7. Disconnect the suction hose and remove the fuel pump module from the fuel tank.
  8. Replace the packing with a new one.
    CAUTION: When installing the fuel pump module into the fuel tank, be careful not to damage the module unit and the float.

  9. Connect the suction hose to the fuel pump module, and install the fuel pump module to the fuel tank while ensuring that the suction hose is not kinked.
  10. Install the plate to the fuel tank.

  11. Connect the fuel pump module connector, the fuel tank differential pressure sensor connector and fuel high-pressure hose connection.

  12. Install the service hole cover.

    Tightening torque: 1.5 +/- 0.5 N.m (14 +/- 4 in-lb) 

  13. Install the floor mat into its original position.

  14. Untie the left rear seat cushion, install it into its original position and tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.

    Tightening torque: 44 +/- 10 N.m (33 +/- 7 ft-lb)
