Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Required Special Tools: 

  1. STEP 1. Using scan tool MB991958, read the diagnostic trouble code. 
    CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958.
    1. Connect scan tool MB991958. Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III) ."
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
    3. Check whether the power window main switch related DTC is set.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.

      Q: Is the DTC set? 

      • YES:  Diagnose the power window main switch. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  .
      • NO:  Go to Step 2.

  2. STEP 2. Check the power window operating current. 

    Check that the power window operating current is normal (Refer to POWER WINDOW TIMER FUNCTION CHECK  ).

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  Door window glass adjustment (Refer to DOOR WINDOW GLASS ADJUSTMENT  ). Then go to Step 3.
    • NO:  Replace the power window motor. Verify that the power window anti-trap function works normally.
  3. STEP 3. Confirm the power window learning function. 

    Check that the power window switch has learned the fully closed position of the windows.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

  4. STEP 4. Retest the system. 

    Check that the power window anti-trap function works normally.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    • YES:  No action is necessary and testing is complete.
    • NO:  Replace the front power window motor (LH). Verify that the power window anti-trap function works normally.
