Encrypted Code Registration Criteria Table

CAUTION: Do not replace the powertrain control module and the ETACS-ECU simultaneously. Always replace either one of the ECUs first, and register the encrypted code. Then, replace the other ECU.

The ignition key contains a transponder (small transmitter), which retains an unique encrypted code. When replacing the parts of the immobilizer system, always register the encrypted code or VIN, or both of them according to the list below. The ETACS-ECU can retain a maximum of eight different encrypted codes. This means that a maximum of eight ignition keys can be registered.

ENCRYPTED CODE REGISTRATION CRITERIA

ITEM OPERATION REFERENCE
When the powertrain control module is replaced Record the VIN. Refer to PRECAUTIONS BEFORE SERVICE .
When the ETACS-ECU is replaced
  1. Record the VIN.
  2. Register all the ignition keys again.
  3. Register the transmitter for all the ignition keys again.
  1. Recording of the VIN: Refer to PRECAUTIONS BEFORE SERVICE .
  2. Re-registration of the ignition key: Refer to ENCRYPTED CODE REGISTRATION USING IGNITION KEY  .
  3. Re-registration of the transmitter: Refer to HOW TO REGISTER SECRET CODE .
When the ignition key ring antenna is replaced Registration not needed -
When the ignition key is added as a single unit
  1. Register all the ignition keys again.
  2. Register the transmitter for all the ignition keys again.
  1. Re-registration of the ignition key: Refer to ENCRYPTED CODE REGISTRATION USING IGNITION KEY  .
  2. Re-registration of the transmitter: Refer to HOW TO REGISTER SECRET CODE .
When the ignition key is lost as a single unit
  1. Register all the ignition keys except the lost ignition key again.
  2. Register all the transmitter except the lost ignition key again.
  1. Re-registration of the ignition key: Refer to ENCRYPTED CODE REGISTRATION USING IGNITION KEY  .
  2. Re-registration of the transmitter: Refer to HOW TO REGISTER SECRET CODE .
When the ignition key is replaced by the full service key set or the handle lock service key set is replaced by the piece.
  1. Register all the ignition keys according to the bar code tag on the key set.
  2. Register the transmitter for all the ignition keys again.
  1. Re-registration of the ignition key: Refer to ENCRYPTED CODE REGISTRATION USING BARCODE NO  .
  2. Re-registration of the transmitter: Refer to HOW TO REGISTER SECRET CODE .
When the ignition key is replaced by the door service key set is replaced by the piece. Register the transmitter for all the ignition keys again. Re-registration of the transmitter: Refer to HOW TO REGISTER SECRET CODE .
NOTE: The engine does not start until the matching has been completed.
