Service Data Reference Table

The following items of ECU input data can be read using scan tool:

  1. When the system is normal.
    Item No. Check item Inspection conditions Normal conditions
    01 Torque sensor main
    • Start the electric motor unit.
    • Turn the steering wheel with a vehicle stationary.
    Centre position Approximately 2.5 V
    Steering wheel turned to right Approximately 0.3 to 2.6 V
    Steering wheel turned to left Approximately 2.4 to 4.7 V
    02 Torque sensor sub
    • Start the electric motor unit.
    • Turn the steering wheel with a vehicle stationary.
    Centre position Approximately 2.5 V
    Steering wheel turned to right Approximately 2.4 to 4.7 V
    Steering wheel turned to left Approximately 0.3 to 2.6 V
    03 Torque sensor power supply voltage Start the electric motor unit. Approximately 5 V
    04 Motor current
    • Start the electric motor unit.
    • Turn the steering wheel to the left and right with a vehicle stationary.
    Approximately 30 A or less
    05 Motor current (target value)
    • Start the electric motor unit.
    • Turn the steering wheel to the left and right with a vehicle stationary.
    Approximately 30 A or less
    06 Relay voltage
    • Start the electric motor unit.
    • Turn the steering wheel to the left and right with a vehicle stationary.
    B+ (approximately 12 V) or less
    07 Engine speed
    • Start the electric motor unit.
    • Turn the steering wheel to the left and right with a vehicle stationary.

    08 Vehicle speed Perform a test run of the vehicle. Speedometer displayed value and scan tool displayed value agree with each other.
    09 Fail-safe relay When Ready indicator is off (electric motor switch: ON) OFF
    Start the electric motor unit. ON
    11 Electric motor switch Electric motor switch: ON → OFF OFF
    Electric motor switch: ON ON
    13 Motor current (limit value)
    • Start the electric motor unit.
    • Turn the steering wheel to the left and right with a vehicle stationary.
    Approximately 30 A or less
    14 Motor voltage (+)
    • Start the electric motor unit.
    • Turn the steering wheel to the left and right with a vehicle stationary.
    B+ (approximately 12 V) or less
    15 Motor voltage (-)
    • Start the electric motor unit.
    • Turn the steering wheel to the left and right with a vehicle stationary.
    B+ (approximately 12 V) or less
    NOTE: Although the item No. 13 (motor current) appears on scan tool, it will not be used. Therefore, descriptions for above table is omitted.
  2. System shutdown by ECU

    While EPS-ECU is disabled by the diagnostic function, the displayed data on scan tool differs from the actual data.
