Diagnostic Procedure
- STEP 1. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) CAN bus diagnostics
Use M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 3.
- NO: Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to CAN BUS DIAGNOSTICS TABLE ). On completion, go to Step 2.
- STEP 2. DTC recheck after resetting CAN bus lines
- Erase the DTC.
- Turn the ignition switch from the "LOCK" (OFF) position to the "ON" position.
- Check if the DTC is stored.
Q: Is DTC U0100, U0114 or U0141 stored?
- YES: Go to Step 3.
- NO: This diagnosis is complete.
- STEP 3. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) DTC
Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III) to check if the same DTC (time-out) is stored in the other ECU.
Q: Is any DTC stored?
- YES (Code No. U0100 stored): Replace the ECM (Refer to ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) < 2.4 L Engine >, ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) < 3.0 L Engine >), and then go to Step 4.
- YES (Code No. U0114 stored): Replace the AWD-ECU, and then go to Step 4.
- YES (Code No. U0141 stored): Replace the ETACS-ECU (Refer to ETACS .), and then go to Step 4.
- NO (No DTC is stored.): Go to Step 4.
- STEP 4. Check whether the DTC is stored again.
- Erase the DTC.
- Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK (OFF) position to the ON position.
- Check if the DTC is stored.
Q: Is DTC U0100, U0114 or U0141 stored?
- YES: Replace the EPS-ECU (Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ). Then go to Step 5.
- NO: Intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
- STEP 5. Check whether the DTC is stored again.
- Erase the DTC.
- Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK (OFF) position to the ON position.
- Check if the DTC is stored.
Q: Is DTC U0100, U0114 or U0141 stored?
- YES: Return to Step 1.
- NO: This diagnosis is complete.
