DTC U0100: Engine ECU CAN timeout; DTC U0114 AWD-ECU CAN timeout; DTC U0126 SAS CAN timeout; DTC U0141 ETACS-ECU CAN timeout: Diagnosis
- STEP 1. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) CAN bus diagnostics CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
- Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to "How to connect the Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III) SEALANT ."
- Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
- Diagnose the CAN bus line.
- Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES: Go to Step 3.
NO: Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to - CAN BUS DIAGNOSTICS TABLE ). On completion, go to Step 2.
- STEP 2. DTC recheck after resetting CAN bus lines
- Erase the DTC.
- Turn the ignition switch from the "LOCK" (OFF) position to the "ON" position.
- Check if the DTC is set.
Q: Is DTC U0100, U0114, U0126 or U0141 set?
YES: Go to Step 3.
NO: This diagnosis is complete.
- STEP 3. Scan tool (M.U.T.-III) DTC
Use scan tool (M.U.T.-III) to check if the same DTC (time-out) is set in the other ECU.
Q: Is any DTC set?
YES (DTC U0100 is set): Replace the ECM (Refer to - ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) <2.4 L Engine>, - ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) <3.0 L Engine>), and then go to Step 4.
YES (DTC U0114 is set): Replace the AWD-ECU (Refer to - Troubleshooting/INSPECTION CHART FOR DTC ) <Vehicles without S-AWC> or AWC-ECU (Refer to - Troubleshooting/INSPECTION CHART FOR DTC <CVT (Vehicles with S-AWC)> or - Troubleshooting/INSPECTION CHART FOR DTC <A/T (Vehicles with S-AWC)>), and then go to Step 4.
YES (DTC U0126 is set): Replace the steering wheel sensor (Refer to --> STEERING WHEEL SENSOR ), and then go to Step 4.
YES (DTC U0141 is set): Replace the ETACS-ECU (Refer to - ETACS ), and then go to Step 4.
NO (No DTC is set.): Go to Step 4.
- STEP 4. Check whether the DTC is set again.
- Erase the DTC.
- Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK (OFF) position to the ON position.
- Check if the DTC is set.
Q: Is DTC U0100, U0114, U0126 or U0141 set?
YES: Replace the EPS-ECU (Refer to ELECTRIC POWER STEERING CONTROL UNIT (EPS-ECU) ). Then go to Step 5.
NO: Intermittent malfunction (Refer to - HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
- STEP 5. Check whether the DTC is set again.
- Erase the DTC.
- Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK (OFF) position to the ON position.
- Check if the DTC is set.
Q: Is DTC U0100, U0114, U0126 or U0141 set?
YES: Return to Step 1.
NO: This diagnosis is complete.
