Initial Installation - RHD

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Jeep Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect and insulate the negative battery cable. If the vehicle is equipped with an intelligent battery sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector before disconnecting the negative battery cable from the battery.
  2. Remove the Steering Column Opening. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL .

  3. Using a trim stick or equivalent, release the retaining tabs (1, 2) and remove closeout panel (3) located between the A-pillar trim and the front scuff plate.

  4. Remove the front door sill scuff plate (1).
    NOTE:

  5. Accessing from the front of the floor console and using a trim stick, disengage the retaining tabs (2) for the front gap hider and remove the right side gap hider (4).

  6. Using isopropyl alcohol or heptane, clean the contact surface of the bracket (1) on which the T-box will be fitted.

  7. Apply a strip of Coroplast tape approximately 10 cm (4 in.) long to the clean surface (1). Cover the sharp edge of the bracket to protect the T-box.

  8. Position the T-box (1a) on the bracket with the connector socket facing towards the front of the vehicle. Secure it with double-sided adhesive tape and two cable ties (1b).

  9. Connect the wire harness connector (1) to the T-box.

  10. Remove fuse F43  (+30) (1a) from the Body Control Module (BCM) and insert fuse tap of the wiring for KL30. Connect the wire harness (1b) in the position previously occupied by fuse F43  of the BCM.

  11. Disconnect the wire harness connector (1) C4  from the BCM, and remove the protective cover.

  12. Use two signal taps (1) to connect the two wires CAN L  and CAN H  from the wiring in the positions corresponding to PIN 37 (CAN L)  and PIN 38 (CAN H)  , respectively.

  13. Find PIN 33  on the separate connection and use the signal tap (1) to connect KL-15  on the wire.

  14. Apply Coroplast tape around the signal taps (1) to prevent it from opening accidentally or creating noise. Install the protective cover and install the wire harness connector C4  to the BCM.

  15. On the floor console, remove the ground nut (1a). Position the harness with ground ring (1b) over the existent wires on the stud. Install the ground nut and tighten securely.

  16. Gather the wiring (1a) and secure it to the existing vehicle wiring (1b) using cable ties (1c).

  17. Under the steering column, secure the section of ground wiring (1a) with cable ties (1b).

  18. On the side of the center console, secure the section of ground wire (1a) to the existing vehicle wiring (1b) with a cable tie (1c).

  19. Bundle all excess ground wiring and secure with a cable tie (1).

  20. Position the excess ground wiring (1a) and secure it with a cable tie (1b) to the existent vehicle wiring (1c) near the BCM.

  21. Install right side gap hider (4).

  22. Align the tabs and hand tap to engage the retaining clips securing the door sill scuff plate (1).

  23. Position the closeout trim panel (3) located between the A-pillar trim and the front scuff plate. Seat the retaining tabs (1, 2) fully.
  24. Install the steering column opening. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, INSTALLATION .
  25. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
