Diesel Engine

This procedure is required when one or more of the following situations are true:

An Engine Control Module (ECM) has been replaced.
An updated calibration or software release is available for either the ECM or Transmission Control Module (TCM).

NOTE:

If the 2.2L Diesel ECM is replaced, the Body Control Module (BCM) Proxi procedure must be performed before beginning these instructions. Perform the "Proxy Configuration Alignment " located under the Guided Diagnostics menu in the activities section of the left margin. Then continue with these instructions.

This procedure assumes that the scan tool is properly configured to the dealership network with either a wired or wireless connection. For help on how to network the scan tool, use the "Help" tab at the top of the diagnostic application.

Programming Procedure:

If a 2.2L controller was replaced, navigate to "Misc. Functions" and perform all applicable routines as follows:

PCM/ECM Replaced - Located within the Body Control Module (BCM).
ECU Replacement Without Value Transfer - if the ECU to be replaced is NOT responsive.
Verify PCM/ECM VIN.
Program Variant Code.
Service Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration.
Reset Zero Fuel.
Reset of Lambda Values.
