Diagnostic Test

- TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
- Cycle the ignition on.
- Using the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, read the Active DTCs.
Does the scan tool display: B18A9-00-TRUNK/GATE LOCK CONTROL CIRCUIT 1 as active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
- CHECKING THE EXTERIOR LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH
- Cycle the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch.
- Cycle the ignition on.
- Using the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, read the Active DTCs.
Does the scan tool display: B18A9-00-TRUNK/GATE LOCK CONTROL CIRCUIT 1 as active?
Yes
- Go to 3
No
- Check the connection at the Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
- If no problem found with the connection, replace the Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch in accordance with Service Information. Refer to SWITCH, EXTERIOR HANDLE, REMOVAL .
- CHECKING THE EXTERIOR LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Cycle the ignition off.
- Disconnect the RF Hub Module C2 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (P30) Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch Signal circuit.
Is the resistance below 30K Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the short to ground in the (P30) Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch Signal circuit.
No
- Go To 4
- CHECKING THE EXTERIOR LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH RETURN CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (P39) Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch Return circuit.
Is the resistance below 30K Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the short to ground in the (P39) Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch Return circuit.
No
- Go To 5
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (P39) Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch Return circuit.
- CHECKING THE EXTERIOR LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT BEING SHORTED TO THE EXTERIOR LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH RETURN CIRCUIT NOTE:
The RF Hub Module C2 harness connector and the Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch should still be disconnected when performing this test.
- Measure the resistance between the (P30) Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch Signal circuit and the (P39) Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch Return circuit at the RF Hub C2 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 30K Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the short between the (P30) Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch Signal circuit and the (P39) Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch Return circuit.
No
- Check the connection at the RF Hub Module for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
- If no problem found at the connection, replace the RF Hub in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, RADIO FREQUENCY (RF HUB), REMOVAL .
- Measure the resistance between the (P30) Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch Signal circuit and the (P39) Exterior Liftgate Handle Switch Return circuit at the RF Hub C2 harness connector.
