Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Record the Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read Drivetrain Control Module (DTCM) DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK POWER TRANSFER UNIT (PTU) SHIFT ACTUATOR AND PTU FOR MECHANICAL FAILURES
- Turn the ignition off.
- Remove the PTU Shift Actuator in accordance with the Service Information.
- Visually inspect the PTU and Shift Actuator for damage or mechanical problems that could cause the PTU to not shift.
Where any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- REPLACE THE PTU SHIFT ACTUATOR AND CHECK FOR THE DTC TO RETURN
- Replace the PTU Shift Actuator in accordance with the Service Information.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
- Test drive the vehicle in Sport Mode and use the When Monitored conditions to operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the PTU in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- The new PTU Shift Actuator repaired the problem.
- Perform the DTCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to DTCM VERIFICATION TEST .
