Module, Comfort Seat And Wheel (CSWM): Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Jeep Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:

The auto comfort features will not automatically turn on if the vehicle is stored in a manner where the actual temperature is greater than the auto on temperature. Outside ambient temperature may be within the range to enable the feature but the actual temperature where the vehicle is stored is what will determine if this features turns on.

The Comfort Seat and Wheel Module (CSWM) operates on fused battery current received from the ignition switch. The module is grounded to the body at all times through the electrical connector. Inputs to the module include Local Interface Network (LIN) data bus messages and standard hardwired 12 volt power and ground. In response to the LIN inputs the CSWM will control the battery current to the appropriate heated seat elements.

When a heated seat switch LIN data bus signal is received by the CSWM, the module energizes the selected heated seat element. The Low heat set point is about 38° C (100.4° F), and the High heat set point is about 42° C (107.6° F).

The CSWM will automatically transition the output from high to low after a maximum period of 60 minutes has elapsed. The CSWM will automatically transition the output from low to off after a maximum period of 45 minutes has elapsed.

If the CSWM detects a heated seat element OPEN or SHORT circuit, it will record and store the appropriate Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).

Driver and Passenger Seat Heat Systems

Rear Heated Seats

The rear heated seats have a separate switch located in the rear of the center console. Each switch has two levels of heat, low and high and an Light Emitting Diode (LED) in the switch for each heat level. The heated seat switches are hardwired to the CSWM to provide the selected heat signal to the CSWM and then the CSWM sends the heat signal out to the heated pad element.

If the CSWM detects a heated seat element OPEN or SHORT circuit, it will record and store the appropriate DTC.
