Module, Powertrain Control (Pcm): Removal: 2.0L

CAUTION:

Do not disconnect the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) electrical connectors before the ignition key is in the off position and the battery cable disconnected. If these steps are not performed damage to the PCM may result from a voltage spike.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.

  2. Disconnect the PCM wire harness connectors (1).
  3. Remove the fasteners (3) that secure the PCM (5) and wire harness bracket (2) to the PCM mount and remove the ground wire (4) from the stud.
  4. Remove the bracket from the studs and remove the PCM from the PCM mount.

  5. If required, remove the fasteners (2) for the PCM mount (1), release the clip (4) at the bottom of the mount and pull the mount up to remove it from the battery tray (3).
