Disassembly Service Point

  1. Transaxle disassembly (Refer to Transaxle).
    CAUTION:
    • Do not remove Transmission range switch.
    • If it is removed it needs to be replaced with a new one.
  2. Bolt 1 and Bolt 2: Turn the 1 bolt and 2 bolt counterclockwise 360° five times. Do not remove these two bolts completely. Other bolts: Remove rest of the bolts on the rim of the side cover.

  3. Turn the six pulley bearing retainer bolts (bolts for fixing the pulleys and the side cover) counterclockwise 360° three times. Do not remove these bolts completely.

  4. Using special tools, separate the side cover from the CVT case with a sliding hammer.
    • Slide hammer (MB990211)
    • Oil seal adapter (MB990212)
  5. Re-install the side cover to the CVT case temporarily, and then temporarily tighten the two bolts remaining on the rim of the side cover.

  6. Remove the converter housing from the CVT case. (Bolt: 24 bolts.)
    NOTE: .
    • Apply rust remover to dowel pins as necessary.
    • No bolt removal sequence specified.
    • Retain three bolts for use during the repair.

  7. Using special tools, on the rim of the converter housing. Alternatively, use plastic hammer to apply light shock to remove the converter housing from the CVT case.
    • Slide hammer (MB990211)
    • Oil seal adapter (MB990212)

    CAUTION:
    • Do not pry between the converter housing and CVT case while separating them.
    • Do not use any bars or wedges to separate the converter housing and CVT case.
  8. Lift the converter housing up with level.

  9. Remove the retaining pin.

  10. Remove the O-ring from the input shaft.

  11. Remove the reduction gear assembly.

  12. Remove the differential assembly.

  13. Remove the nuts securing the baffle plate A (chain cover), and then remove the baffle plate A.

  14. Remove the drive sprocket along with the oil pump chain and the driven sprocket at the same time.

    For removing the driven sprocket, spread out the snap ring by snap ring pliers and raise the sprocket.

    NOTE: Keep the sprocket and the chain together as one set after the removing.

  15. Remove the thrust washer from the dummy cover.

  16. Remove the fix bolt of L-bracket and then remove L-bracket.

  17. Remove the bolts, and then remove the baffle plate B.

  18. Remove the bolts, and then remove the baffle plate C.

    CAUTION: Do not remove the seal ring from the dummy cover. (Reuse parts).

  19. Remove the five bolts which fix the dummy cover, and then remove the dummy cover with holding the spline portion of the dummy cover.

  20. Remove the thrust needle bearing from the forward clutch assembly bore.

    CAUTION: Do not remove seal ring
  21. Remove the forward clutch assembly from transaxle case.

  22. Remove the thrust needle bearing between forward clutch dram and sun gear.

  23. Remove the sun gear from planet carrier.

  24. Remove thrust needle bearing from sun gear of primary pulley side.

  25. Remove planet carrier from transaxle case.

  27. Using 6 mm hexagon wrench, loosen allen head bolts (A) which fix the oil pump.
  28. Remove the bolt (B), and then remove the O-ring from the bolt (B).
  29. Remove the allen head bolts (A) and oil pump.
  30. Remove two tightening bolts which temporary tightened the side cover.

  31. Lift the transaxle case up and remove it.

    Weight of the transaxle case: Approx. 14 kg (31 lbs)
