Diagnosis Procedure

  1. CHECK FFD 

    With M.U.T.-III SE

    1. Check the FFD for power steering control module.
    2. Read value of Item No. 28 "Internal fault code (for DTC)".

    Is "0030" or "0020" set? 

    YES-1 >>

    "0030" is displayed: Perform calibration of steering torque sensor. Refer to WORK PROCEDURE .

    YES-2 >>

    "0020" is displayed:

    GO TO  2.

    NO >>

    GO TO  3.

  2. CHECK THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR NEUTRAL POSITION 

    With M.U.T.-III SE

    1. Select "ABS", "Data List" and "Steering angle" in this order.
    2. Position the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.

    Is the display value "±2.5 deg"? 

    YES >>

    GO TO  3.

    NO >>

    Perform steering angle sensor neutral position adjustment. Refer to DESCRIPTION

  3. PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS 

    With M.U.T.-III SE

    1. Ignition switch OFF to ON.
    2. Erase self-diagnostic results for "EPS/DAST 3".
    3. Pull the parking brake switch.
      NOTE: Check the parking brake switch indicator is turn On.
    4. Ignition switch OFF.
    5. Get out of the vehicle and close all doors.
    6. Wait 65 seconds.
      NOTE:
      • Check the parking brake switch indicator turn OFF.
      • If the rear brake caliper is heated, wait an hour so that parking brake switch indicator does not turn OFF.
    7. Start the engine.
    8. Drive the vehicle straight forward at more than 30 km/h (19 MPH).
      CAUTION: Always drive safely.
    9. Stop the vehicle.
    10. Perform self-diagnosis for "EPS/DAST 3".

    Is DTC "C1608-46" detected? 

    YES >>

    Replace the power steering control module (steering gear assembly). Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

    NO >>

    Check terminals and connection of each harness connector for malfunctioning conditions.
