Fuel Injection Pump

The injection pump is Bosch-Kiki VE type pump. Belt-driven from the camshaft, it is a low pressure vane type with a high pressure fuel distributor. An integral fuel cut-off solenoid for engine shut down is included. The injection pump is also equipped with an RPM sensor and a throttle position potentiometer, which are used by the EGR control system to reduce emissions.

The vane pump output pressure, also referred to as the injection pump body pressure, averages between 50-100 psi (3.5-7.0 kg/cm2 ) depending upon the engine speed and application. The plunger type injection pump boosts this pressure to about 2000 psi (140.6 kg/cm2 ).
