Fuel Pump (Code 22)
- Turn ignition switch on and listen to fuel pump operating sound. The sound must be heard for about 5 seconds. If okay, replace ECCS control unit. If no good, disconnect ECCS 15-pin connector.
- Check voltage between terminal 108 and ground when ignition switch is on. See Fig 1 . If there is continuity, go to next step. If no good, check harness for continuity. If okay, go to next step. If no good, repair.
- On Maxima, check fuel pump relay. Check for continuity between terminals 1-2 and 3-4. There should be continuity at 1-2 and no continuity at 3-4. Apply 12 volts to terminals 1-2. There now should be continuity between terminals 3-4. See Fig 2 . In no good, replace relay. If okay, go to next step.
- On all models, check fuel pump for continuity. If there is continuity, replace ECCS control unit. If there is no continuity, replace fuel pump.
