NO FAST IDLE WHEN COLD: FAULTY VACUUM CONTROL MODULE
YEAR(S): 1984-86
MANUFACTURER: Nissan
MODEL(S): Sentra, Pulsar
ISSUE & TIP
Some 1984-86 Nissan Sentras and Pulsars may run poorly when cold. The engine will have no fast idle when cold, although it may run close to normal when warm. Engine idle speed will drop below normal when accessory loads like air conditioning are added. These problems may be due to a bad vacuum control module, or VCM. A VCM kit including a new VCM and filter is available through Nissan parts departments to correct these problems.
