Air Injection System: Description
The air injection system is designed to reduce hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions by supplying filtered air to the exhaust manifold. On California models, the system consists of an air injection valve, air temperature sensor, water temperature sensor and thermal vacuum valve. On Federal models, the system consists of an air temperature sensor, air injection control solenoid valve, air injection valve, air cleaner and water temperature sensor. The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) coordinates the function of the air injection valve on Federal models.
