Fuel Pressure
CAUTION:
Constant fuel pressure is maintained in fuel lines and component parts at all times. Relieve pressure before attempting to open system for testing. Do not allow fuel to flow onto engine or electrical parts or allow an open flame in area while testing fuel system components.
- To release fuel system pressure, first remove fuel pump fuse from fuse panel. Start engine and run until it stalls. After engine stalls, crank engine through 2 or 3 revolutions. Turn ignition off.
- Disconnect fuel hose from throttle body assembly. Install pressure gauge inline between fuel hose and throttle body using "T" fitting. Start engine and read fuel pressure at idle. Fuel pressure should be about 36 psi (2.5 kg/cm2 ).
NOTE:
There are some early production models that have a 14 psi (.98 kg/cm2
) fuel pressure specification.
