Diagnostic Modes

The self-diagnostic system can detect ECCS malfunctions and store related trouble code. Trouble codes, including intermittent codes, are stored in ECU memory and are available for interpretation unless codes have been cleared.

The 2 self-diagnostic systems used are based around single or dual Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), located on ECU. Maxima uses the dual LED system. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM table. The ECU is located, under dash, behind center console.
