Closed Throttle Position Switch System Test (Maxima VE30DE)
- Start engine. Measure voltage between ECM terminal No. 54 (Green/Orange wire) and ground. Depress accelerator pedal. Voltage should be approximately zero volts. Release accelerator pedal. Battery voltage should be present. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If is as specified, system is functioning properly.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect and inspect closed throttle position switch harness connector for pushed-out, bent, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary. Check continuity between Green/Orange wire and ground. Continuity should exist. If continuity does not exist, repair harness or connector as necessary. If continuity exists, check closed throttle position switch for proper installation. See SPECIFICATIONS article. If switch is installed properly, test switch. See CLOSED THROTTLE POSITION SWITCH TEST under ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES . If switch is okay, inspect ECM harness connector for pushed-out, bent, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary.
