Closed Throttle Position Switch System Test (Maxima VG30E)

  1. Turn ignition on. Perform MODE IV (Switch Check) under DUAL LED SYSTEM in TESTS W/CODES article. Red LED on ECM should turn on and off as accelerator pedal is depressed and released. If Red LED does not function as described, go to next step. If Red LED functions as described, system is functioning properly.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect and inspect closed throttle position switch harness connector for pushed-out, bent, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary. Disconnect and inspect ECM harness connector for pushed-out, bent, damaged or corroded terminals. Repair connector as necessary.
  3. Check continuity of Green/Red wire between ECM terminal No. 54 and closed throttle position switch harness connector. Continuity should exist. Check continuity of Green/Yellow wire between ECM terminal No. 57 and closed throttle position switch harness connector. Continuity should exist.
  4. If continuity does not exist, repair harness or connectors as necessary. If continuity exists, check closed throttle position switch for proper installation. See SPECIFICATIONS article. If switch is installed properly, test switch. See CLOSED THROTTLE POSITION SWITCH TEST under ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES  .
