Feedback System (Maxima VG30E, Pathfinder & Pickup)

  1. Ensure ignition timing and idle speed are adjusted. Refer to ADJUSTMENTS article. Warm engine to operating temperature. Run engine unloaded at 2000 RPM for 2 minutes. Green LED on ECM should flash at least 5 times during a 10-second period. If LED flashes less than 5 times, replace exhaust gas (oxygen) sensor. If LED does not flash, check exhaust gas (oxygen) sensor circuit.
  2. Race engine 2-3 times, and allow it to idle. Enter self-diagnostic Mode II. See TESTS W/CODES article. With engine running unloaded at 2000 RPM, Green and Red LEDs on ECM should flash simultaneously more than 5 times during 10-second period. If LED does not respond as described, perform IDLE MIXTURE adjustment procedure in ADJUSTMENTS article.
