Feedback System

  1. Ensure ignition timing and idle speed are adjusted. See ADJUSTMENTS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. Warm engine to operating temperature. Run engine unloaded at 2000 RPM for 2 minutes. Green LED on ECM should flash at least 5 times during a 10-second period. If LED flashes less than 5 times, replace exhaust gas (oxygen) sensor. If LED does not flash, check exhaust gas (oxygen) sensor circuit.
  2. Race engine 2-3 times, and allow it to idle. Enter self-diagnostic Mode II. See TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. With engine running unloaded at 2000 RPM, Green and Red LEDs on ECM should flash simultaneously more than 5 times during 10-second period. If LED does not respond as described, perform IDLE MIXTURE adjustment procedure in ADJUSTMENTS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
