Radiator (Cooling) Fan Control Test

WARNING: Be careful not to overheat engine during radiator fan control test.
  1. Start engine. Run engine at 2000 RPM until operating temperature is reached. Ensure radiator fan operates at low speed during warm-up. If radiator fan does not operate at low speed, go to RADIATOR (COOLING) FAN LOW SPEED CONTROL TEST  . If radiator fan operates at low speed, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition (engine) off. Disconnect radiator fan high-speed (No. 2) relay and low-speed (No. 1) relay. See Fig 1 . Disconnect engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector. Connect a 150-ohm resistor to engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector. Start engine and ensure radiator fan operates at high speed.
  3. Turn ignition (engine) off. Reconnect radiator fan high-speed (No. 2) relay and disconnect high-speed (No. 3) relay. Start engine and ensure radiator fan operates at high speed. If radiator fan does not operate at high speed, go to RADIATOR (COOLING) FAN HIGH SPEED CONTROL TEST. If radiator fan operates at high speed, system is functioning properly.
