Auxiliary Air Control (AAC) Valve System Test
- Start engine and bring to operating temperature. Check idle speed. Adjust idle speed if necessary. See the ADJUSTMENTS article.
- Disconnect AAC valve sub-harness connector. Idle speed should drop. If idle speed drops, system is functioning properly. If idle speed does not drop, turn ignition off. With AAC valve sub-harness connector disconnected, turn ignition on.
- Measure voltage between ground and AAC valve sub-harness connector White/Red wire. Battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check for open harness and connectors between AAC valve sub-harness connector and ignition switch. Repair or replace as necessary.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. Check continuity between ECM harness connector terminal No. 113 (Light Blue wire) and corresponding wire of AAC valve sub-harness connector. Continuity should exist. If continuity does not exist, repair open harness or connectors. If continuity exists, check AAC valve. See AUXILIARY AIR CONTROL (AAC) VALVE . If AAC valve is okay, check ECM terminals, harness, and connector terminals for damage or corrosion. Repair as necessary.
