DTC Confirmation Test

Depending on equipment available, use one of the following to set DTC:

• Using scan tool, start engine. Drive vehicle maintaining the following conditions for at least 12 seconds:
• Engine speed at 1700-2500 RPM (A/T); 2000-3000 RPM (M/T).
• Vehicle speed at 44-62 mph.
• Transmission in appropriate gear.

Once all conditions are met, select MODE 7 on scan tool.

• Using MIL, start engine. Drive vehicle maintaining the following conditions for at least 12 seconds:
• Engine speed at 1700-2500 RPM (A/T); 2000-3000 RPM (M/T).
• Vehicle speed at 44-62 mph.
• Transmission in appropriate gear.

Once all conditions are met, turn ignition off and wait at least 5 seconds. Turn ignition on and retrieve DTCs using MIL. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in TESTS W/CODES - INTRODUCTION article.
