Overall Function Test
Raise and support drive wheels. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off and wait at least 5 seconds. Start engine and wait at least 70 seconds. Using DVOM, measure voltage (backprobe) between terminals No. 43 (Black/Red wire) and No. 67 (Red wire) at ECM harness connector. See Figure. Record voltage with engine idling. While monitoring voltage, maintain the following conditions for at least one minute:
- A/C On
- Steering Wheel Turned To Stop
- Headlights On
- Rear Window Defogger On
- Engine Speed At 3000 RPM
- Transmission In Any Forward Gear
Ensure voltage remains 0.1 volt less than voltage measured at idle for at least one second.
NOTE:
If both DTC P0510 and DTC P1447 are present, diagnose and repair DTC P0510 first. See DTC P0510: CLOSED THROTTLE POSITION (CTP) SWITCH.
