Interior Light Check

  1. Check Interior Light

    Ensure interior light switch is in ON position. Open any door. If interior light illuminates, go to next step. If interior light does not illuminate, check interior light circuit. See appropriate wiring diagram in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.

  2. Check Interior Light Circuit

    Turn ignition off. Using DVOM, measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and terminal No. 8 (Red/Yellow wire) at Smart Entrance Control Unit (SECU) harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Press and hold UNLOCK button on remote transmitter for 30 seconds with all doors closed. DVOM should indicate zero volts. Release button. DVOM should indicate battery voltage. If voltage is as specified, system is okay. If battery voltage is not present, repair open or short in wiring harness between interior light and SECU.
