Anti-Lock Brake System: Description
Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) prevents wheel lock-up, allowing driver to maintain steering control during heavy braking. The system consists of an ABS control unit with self-diagnosis capability, warning light, wheel speed sensors, wiring and hydraulic lines. See Fig 1.
ABS control unit (electro-hydraulic unit) consists of a pump motor, accumulator, solenoid valves for each channel, solenoid valve relay, actuator motor relay, check valves and reservoirs.
