Fuel Injector Assembly: Removal

  1. Perform fuel system pressure release. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
  2. Remove 2 cap nuts and engine cover. See Fig 1.
  3. Disconnect vacuum hoses and ventilation hose. Remove air cleaner hose assembly.
  4. Remove 2 union bolts and 4 gaskets. Remove bolts and fuel pipe sub-assembly.
  5. Remove 3 bolts and disconnect fuel return pipe sub-assembly from fuel pressure regulator. See Fig 2. Move to side.
  6. Remove pulsation damper and 2 gaskets. Disconnect fuel hose No. 1. See Fig 3.
  7. Remove bolts and separate vacuum switching valve assembly from intake manifold.
  8. Disconnect 8 fuel injector connectors. Remove 3 bolts and disconnect engine wire.
  9. Remove 2 nuts and pull fuel delivery pipe straight upward holding both ends.
  10. Remove 2 nuts and pull fuel delivery pipe No. 2 straight upward holding both ends.
  11. Remove injector from delivery pipe. DO NOT put any force on injector in horizontal position as "O"ring may be stuck. Remove "O" ring, grommet and insulator from injector.
