WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Infiniti G35. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Perform ACCELERATOR PEDAL RELEASED POSITION LEARNING .
- Perform THROTTLE VALVE CLOSED POSITION LEARNING .
- Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature.
- Ensure all conditions under PREPARATION are met.
- Select IDLE AIR VOL LEARN in WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT-II.
- Press START and wait 20 seconds.
- Ensure CMPLT is displayed. If CMPLT is not displayed, idle air volume learning will not be carried out successfully. If CMPLT is not displayed, go to next step.
- Quickly increase, then decrease engine speed 2 or 3 times. Ensure engine speed is 600-700 RPM and ignition timing is 10-20 degrees BTDC with transmission in Park or Neutral position. If idle speed and timing are not as specified, adjust as necessary and repeat idle air volume learning procedure. See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, IGNITION TIMING & IDLE SPEED in ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article. If idle speed and timing are as specified, go to next step.
- If idle air volume learning cannot be performed successfully, check following:
- Ensure throttle valve is fully closed.
- Check PCV valve operation.
- Ensure no vacuum leaks exist.
- Adjust closed throttle position switch and reset memory. See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, IGNITION TIMING & IDLE SPEED in ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.
- If all of the above items check okay, engine components and installation are suspect. Perform appropriate BASIC INSPECTION procedure in ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.
- If after engine starts, engine stalls or idle speed fluctuates, repair as necessary. After repair, repeat idle air volume learning procedure.
