DTC Confirmation Test (Using CONSULT-II)

NOTE: Open hood before conducting the following procedure. DO NOT keep engine at specified speeds longer than the specified times.
  1. Open hood. Start engine and warm to operating temperature.
  2. Turn ignition off and wait 5 seconds.
  3. Start engine. Hold engine speed at 3500-4000 RPM for one minute with no load.
  4. Allow engine to idle for one minute.
  5. Select DTC & SRT CONFIRMATION then SRT WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT-II.
  6. Hold engine speed at 2000-3000 RPM for 3 minutes, then release accelerator pedal completely. If INCMP of CATALYST changes to CMPLT, go to step  9 (2.4L models) or step  10 (3.3L models).
  7. Let engine idle for 5 seconds.
  8. Hold engine speed at 2000-3000 RPM until INCMP of CATALYST changes to CMPLT (it will take about 5 minutes). If CMPLT is not displayed, go to next step (2.4L models) or step  10 (3.3L models).
  9. Turn ignition off. Allow engine to cool to ambient temperature. Turn ignition on and select COOLANTEMP/S in DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II. Start engine and warm while monitoring COOLANTEMP/S. When engine temperature is 158°F (70°C), go to step  3 .
  10. Select SELF-DIAG RESULTS mode with CONSULT-II.
  11. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
  12. Turn ignition on. Select DTC & SRT CONFIRMATION then SRT WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT-II. Start engine. Hold engine speed at 2500-3500 RPM for one minute. Release accelerator pedal completely. Allow engine to idle for one minute. Let engine idle for 5 seconds, then increase and hold engine speed at 2000-3000 RPM until INCMP of CATALYST changes to CMPLT (it will take about 5 minutes) then retest from step  10 .
