Column Shift

SYMPTOM 1: 

SYMPTOM 2: 

  1. CHECK SELECTOR LEVER POSITION 

    Check the selector lever position for damage.

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: GO TO 2.
    2. NG: Check selector lever. Refer to "ADJUSTMENT OF A/T POSITION ".
  2. CHECK SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID AND PARK POSITION SWITCH 
    1. Connect A/T device harness connector.
    2. Turn ignition switch "ON".
    3. Selector lever is set in "P" position.
    4. Check operation sound.
      SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID AND PARK POSITION SWITCH INSPECTION

      Condition Brake pedal Operation sound
      When ignition switch is turned to "ON" position and selector lever is set in "P" position. Depressed Yes
      Released No

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: INSPECTION END 
    2. NG: GO TO 3.
  3. CHECK POWER SOURCE 
    1. Turn ignition switch "ON". (Do not start engine.)
    2. Selector lever is set in "P" position.
    3. Check the voltage between A/T device connector M68 terminal 3 (G/R) and ground.
      A/T DEVICE CONNECTOR M68 TERMINAL 3 (G/R) AND GROUND VOLTAGE

      Condition Brake pedal Data (Approx.)
      When ignition switch is turned to "ON" position. Depressed Battery voltage
      Released 0V

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: GO TO  6.
    2. NG: GO TO 4.

  4. CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH 
    1. Turn ignition switch "OFF".
    2. Disconnect stop lamp switch connector.
    3. Check continuity between stop lamp switch terminals 3 and 4.
      STOP LAMP SWITCH CONTINUITY

      Condition Continuity
      When brake pedal is depressed Yes
      When brake pedal is released No

      Check stop lamp switch after adjusting brake pedal - refer to " BRAKE PEDAL  "  .

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: GO TO 5.
    2. NG: Repair or replace damaged parts.

  5. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM 

    Check the following items. If any items are damaged, repair or replace damaged parts.

    • Harness for short or open between fuse block (J/B) and stop lamp switch terminal 4 (G/R)
    • Harness for short or open between stop lamp switch terminal 3 (G/R) and A/T device terminal 3 (G/R).
    • 10A fuse [No. 12, located in the fuse block (J/B)]
    • Ignition switch. Refer to "POWER SUPPLY ROUTING CIRCUIT ".

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: GO TO 6.
    2. NG: Repair or replace damaged parts.
  6. CHECK A/T DEVICE CIRCUIT 
    1. Turn ignition switch "OFF".
    2. Disconnect A/T device connector.
    3. Check continuity between A/T device terminal 1 and terminal 3.
      A/T DEVICE TERMINAL 1 AND TERMINAL 3 CONTINUITY

      Condition Continuity
      Selector lever in "P" position No
      Selector lever in other position Yes
    4. Connect A/T device connector.

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: GO TO 7.
    2. NG: Replace shift lock solenoid or park position switch.

  7. CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT 
    1. Turn ignition switch "OFF".
    2. Disconnect A/T device connector.
    3. Check continuity between A/T device connector M68 terminal 1 (B) and ground.

      : Continuity should exist  .

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: Replace shift lock solenoid or park position switch.
    2. NG: Repair open circuit or short to power in harness or connectors.
