Circuit Description
Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) signal pulses, along with CKP sensor pulses are used by PCM to initiate fuel injection. CMP and CKP sensor pulses are constantly being compared to each other. PCM will set DTC P0341 if CMP sensor pulses are not in proper ratio to CKP sensor reference pulses. Engine will start and run and PCM will initiate injector sequence with a one in four chance that sequence is correct.
When DTC sets, PCM illuminates MIL on second trip after fault was detected. PCM will initiate injector sequence with a one in four chance that sequence is correct. PCM will store conditions present when DTC was set as freeze frame data in the FAILURE RECORDS data.
PCM will turn MIL off on third consecutive trip cycle during which diagnostic runs and fault is no longer recognized. A history DTC P0341 will clear after 40 consecutive trip cycles during which diagnostic runs and fault is no longer recognized. DTC can be cleared with scan tool, or by disconnecting battery voltage feed to PCM.
