DTC Confirmation Test "C"

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Xterra and 2002 Nissan Frontier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off and wait at least 5 seconds. Turn ignition on. Select MANU TRIG and HI SPEED in DATA MONITOR mode with scan tool.
  2. Select THRTL POS SEN and ABSOL TH-P/S. Press RECORD. Slowly depress accelerator pedal to wide open throttle. Voltage rise should be linear in response to throttle opening, and voltage should be about 4 volts at wide open throttle.
  3. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, go to appropriate DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE.
  4. Select AUTO TRIG on scan tool. Maintain the following conditions for at least 10 consecutive seconds:
    • ENG SPEED: more than 2000 RPM.
    • MAS AIR/FL SE: more than 3 volts.
    • COOLAN TEMP/S: more than 158°F (70°C).
    • Drive vehicle uphill (increased engine load) to help maintain conditions required for test.
  5. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to appropriate DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE. If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
