DTC Confirmation Test (Using CONSULT-II)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Xterra and 2002 Nissan Frontier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off and wait at least 5 seconds. Turn ignition on. Select SELF-LEARNING CONT in WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT-II. Clear self-learning control coefficient by pressing CLEAR.
  2. Select DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II. Start engine and let it idle for at least 10 minutes. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to appropriate DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE. If 1st trip DTC is not detected, go to next step.
  3. If it is difficult to start engine, fuel injection system has a malfunction. Crank engine while depressing accelerator pedal. If engine starts, go to appropriate DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE. If engine does not start, check for intake and exhaust leaks or spark plug fouling.
