DTC Confirmation Test "B" (Without CONSULT-II)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Xterra and 2002 Nissan Frontier. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of EGR temperature sensor. During this test, 1st trip DTC may not be confirmed.
- Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Run engine at idle for at least 2 minutes.
- Check if EGR valve is open. If EGR valve is open, perform diagnosis for DTC P1402. See DTC P1402: EGR FUNCTION (2.4L) . If EGR valve is not open, go to next step.
- Measure voltage between ground and ECM terminal No. 63 (EGR temperature sensor signal) by backprobing at about 1500 RPM with EGR valve lifted up to full open position by hand. See Figure . See Figure or Figure .
- Voltage should decrease to less than one volt. If voltage is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If voltage is as specified, perform diagnosis for DTC P0400 and P01400. See DTC P0400: EGR FUNCTION (2.4L) and DTC P1400: EGR CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE (2.4L) .
