Method No. 2

  1. Place transmission selector lever in Neutral. Remove selector lever from automatic transmission mode switch. Remove cover from mode switch.
  2. Disconnect mode switch 6-pin harness connector and bracket from transmission. With DVOM set to read resistance, connect DVOM between mode switch pins No. 1(E) and 4(H). See Fig 1 .
  3. Loosen (2) 10 mm screws securing mode switch. Rotate mode switch slightly in both directions (about 5 degrees) to determine range of electrical contact.
  4. Position mode switch in middle of contact range. Tighten mode switch retaining bolts to 113 INCH lbs. (13 N.m). Remove DVOM. Install harness connector.
  5. Install shift lever on mode switch and tighten shift lever nut. Install mode switch cover on gear position switch. Install heat protector.
