Passenger-Side Air Bag Module Connector Modification

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Nissan Quest. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When installing a service replacement passenger-side air bag module, tab style connector must be used. Follow procedure to modify original direct connect connector.
  1. Using wire cutters, remove Yellow and Orange passenger-side air bag module connectors by cutting wire harness approximately 2" (51 mm) from connectors. Remove approximately 6 inches (152 mm) of harness covering from cut end.
  2. Place a piece of dual-wall heat shrink tubing, provided in passenger-side air bag module service kit, onto each wire of passenger-side air bag module wiring harness. See Fig 1 . Fold each wire back and insert into end of heat shrink tubing so end of wire is centered in heat shrink tubing. Using a heat gun, shrink tubing around wire. Use electrical tape to secure modified wires to outside of wiring harness.
  3. Locate passenger-side air bag module service replacement tab-style connector that is taped to main wire harness. Unwrap tape to access tab-style connector. See Fig 2 . Service replacement passenger-side air bag module will be connected to this connector.
