DTC Confirmation Test (Overall Function Check)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Quest. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of closed TP switch circuit. During this test, DTC may not be confirmed.
Malfunction is detected when battery voltage is sent to ECM from closed TP switch when throttle valve is opened. Possible causes are:
- Closed TP switch circuit shorted.
- Defective closed TP switch.
- Defective TP sensor.
CAUTION:
DO NOT use ECM ground terminals when measuring voltage.
To check overall function of closed TP switch circuit, start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Measure voltage between ground and closed TP switch signal circuit at ECM terminal No. 28 (Brown/Yellow wire) by backprobing. See Figure. At idle, battery voltage should exist. At 2000 RPM, about zero volts should exist. If voltage is not as specified, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
