Component Inspection

  1. CHECK CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (POS)-I 
    1. Loosen the fixing bolt of the sensor.
    2. Disconnect crankshaft position sensor (POS) harness connector.
    3. Remove the sensor.
    4. Visually check the sensor for chipping.

      Is the inspection result normal? 

      YES: GO TO 2.

      NO: Replace crankshaft position sensor (POS). Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (UPPER OIL PAN) ".

  2. CHECK CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (POS)-II 

    Check resistance crankshaft position sensor (POS) terminals as per the following.

    Terminal No. (Polarity) Resistance
    1 (+) - 2 (-) Except 0 or ∞ Ω [at 25°C (77°F)]
    1 (+) - 3 (-)
    2 (+) - 3 (-)

    Is the inspection result normal? 

    YES: INSPECTION END

    NO: Replace crankshaft position sensor (POS). Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (UPPER OIL PAN) ".
